Alligator Gar Weight Calculator
Estimate the weight of any North American gar species using total length and girth measurements. All 5 species supported.
How to Measure Your Gar
Total Length (L): Measure from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail with the fish laid flat. Use a tape measure along the body.
Girth (G): Measure around the widest part of the body — usually just behind the pectoral fins. Wrap the tape snugly around the full circumference. This is the most important measurement for accuracy.

About This Calculator
This tool estimates gar weight using total length and maximum girth measurements. Results are typically accurate to within 10–15% of actual scale weight. Always use a certified scale for IGFA World Record submissions.
The alligator gar formula is the Garzilla-verified field formula used by professional guides on the Trinity River. Other species use estimated divisors based on body proportion comparison with scientifically verified species.
